I'm a Dorset-based tech person type thing.
I am a co-founder and a principal consultant at Stance. We think and do stuff with governments, technology and policy.
In practice that means I seem to end up doing all sorts of things, but the thing that gets me out of bed in the morning is when I get to work with clients to rearrange their organisations to take advantage of the capabilities of modern technology.
I helped to create Wardley Mapping and I frequently both use it with and teach it to my clients, so they can take better care of themselves.
Before I became a consultant, I was a senior civil servant.
Before I did that, I did a whole bunch of technology startups.
Before I did that, I was an software developer. I still am, really.
Writing
Sometimes I write. Some of the things I write go on to the Stance website. Other things need a different home. These are some of those things:
Website
This website is produced using 11ty, and hosted on firebase. I borrowed heavily from the personal website of Andy Jones because I liked it a lot, and also I liked his bread recipe.
I edit it almost exclusively using emacs mostly because I've discovered that I'm an old.
